Description

This Gentoo penguin mother will create a nest by finding small rocks and placing them to form the nest seen here. She feeds her chicks by eating fish and krill from the ocean. She then digests it and holds it in for a while, then when the food she has eaten is ready, she regurgitates the food into the chicks beak to feed them. A most unusual sight for us humans. As the chicks get older and more mobile they will chase her around seeking food. She will typically run from them, creating a quite humorous game of "catch me if you can"!
